Obituary for Lottie Laura Springer (Ryskiewicz)

Lottie Laura Springer (Ryskiewicz)
Lottie L. Springer, 91, of Mosinee, WI, died January 3, 2018, at Copperleaf Memory Care Facility in Rothschild, WI, surrounded by her loving family.
Lottie was born on February 16, 1926 in Peplin, WI, to Ben and Mary (Pryga) Ryskiewicz. Lottie married Frank Sypnieski on June 21, 1947. He died in a tragic hunting incident in November of 1954. She then married Ernie Springer on July 14, 1962. He preceded her in death in March of 1996.
As a young girl of 14, Lottie, along with two of her sisters, moved to Chicago to work for families doing house keeping and babysitting. Eventually she ended up working in factories making supplies for the war effort during World War II. She had fond memories of life in the big city of Chicago, especially riding the street car to work and walks on Navy Pier.
As a young woman, in 1947 Lottie returned to Mosinee starting her first family with Frank Sypnieski. They were blessed with three children, Barb, Sharon and Jim. Lottie lost Frank in 1954 at an early age and courageously raised three young children for eight years on her own, working at Rondeau Cheese Packaging and Hillside Supermarket. Lottie later found love again in Ernie Springer. After their wedding in 1962, Lottie gave birth to two more children, Lori and Tom. Lottie and Ernie were married for 34 years and enjoyed many trips and wonderful times with their family.
Lottie had a warm and tender heart, and was a devoted Catholic her entire life. She had a deep love for her 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She loved to spend time at the Springer Family farm in Knowlton. She also enjoyed cooking meals for her family especially her famous pierogi during the Christmas season. Lottie loved her house plants and summer gardening, sharing the bounteous vegetables with family, friends and neighbors. Along with spending time with her family, Lottie volunteered her time with St. Monica Council at St. Paul Parish in Mosinee.
Lottie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, her husband Ernie, and four sibilings: Frances Swientek, Sister Mary Genevieve, Edmund Ryskiewicz, and Eugene Ryskiewicz. She is survived by five children: Barbara (Darrell) Kutchmarek, Waunakee, WI; Sharon (John) Benson, Phoenix, AZ; Jim (Jackie) Sypnieski, Mosinee; Lori (Tom) Doughman, Sherwood, WI; and Tom (Carrie) Springer, Madison, WI; 10 grandchildren : Kari (Martyn) Greenan, Kristin (Doug) Lau, Kadi (John) Groppoli, Ben (Jamie) Benson, Jimmy Sypnieski Jr., Kory (Elise) Kutchmarek, Mariah Doughman (special friend, Jeremi Witkowski), Hannah Doughman, Sam Springer, and Mitchell Springer; 16 great-grandchildren: Madeline, Benji, Mallerie, Abbie, and Emma Benson, Emma, Callum, and Isla Greenan; Emily, Jack, Elise, and Claire Groppoli, Johnston and Benson Lau; and Elliot and Kellyn Kutchmarek; four siblings: Esther Zogata, John Ryskiewicz, Benny Ryskiewicz, and Angie (Bill) Maliszewski, and many friends and relatives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 603 Fourth Street, Mosinee, WI. Father Don Przybylski will officiate. Visitation will be held at the Church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Beste Funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be made at In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Lottie to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Aspirus Hospice Organization.
The family would like to thank the staff of Acorn Hill in Mosinee, Copperleaf Memory Care Facility and Aspirus Hospice for their compassionate care and support of Lottie and her family.
