Obituary for Jean Mary Kennedy (Ford)

A spirited woman with a passion for life, laughter and love of family and friends, Jean M. Kennedy, 67, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was 67.

Jean was born July 3, 1951, the daughter of the late Raymond and Joyce (Buchacek) Ford, Mosinee. Steve Kennedy swept Jean off her feet and the couple was married Sept. 19, 1970, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. He survives.

Jean worked at Aspirus Hospital for more than 20 years. She found joy and good times camping, serving with Steve as host at DuBay Park Campground for 16 years. She also enjoyed her snowbird friends while the couple wintered in Florida. An avid Packers fan, Jean was also known as an enthusiastic Polka dancer back in the day.

Besides her husband, Steve, she is survived by her daughter, Amy Kennedy, Schofield; two grandchildren, SSGT Dakota (SSGT Alburney) Kennedy, USAF Japan, and Tanner Koss, Schofield; two brothers, John (Trina) Ford, Rhinelander, and James (Maureen) Ford, Mosinee; and a sister, Jill (Charles) Heike, Mosinee.

A memorial service will be at noon, Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Meuret will officiate. Visitation at the church will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be made at

The family would like to thank Dr. Matthew Clancy and the staff at Aspirus for their care.
