Donald L. Koss, 85, Mosinee, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020 at Tender Reflections Community Center, Weston.

He was born on Nov. 27, 1934 in Knowlton, the son of the late Leonard and Irene (Brish) Koss. He married Anita Engman on Sept. 17, 1960, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. They enjoyed 59+ years of married life together. She survives.

He worked at the Mosinee Paper Mill for 44 years, retiring in 1997 as a No.2 machine tender. Don played drums with the Polka Band, Wisconsin Valley Dutchmen and played on Sunday afternoon hardball team during the 50s and 60s. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, spending time with family and helping the neighbors. Even though, Parkinson Disease slowed him down later in life, he still found enjoyment in all these things. He was also a lifelong member of St. Paul Parish.

He is preceded in death by a sister, Valeria Kesy, sister-in-law, Arnelle Koss, brother-in-law, Robert Hubbard, and nephew, Randy Hubbord.

Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Meuret will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Visitation will be Friday, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, where at 4:30 p.m. there will be a rosary service. Anita and family, so sorry to hear of Don's passing. I don't get the paper so I was unaware of it, but dad called me from Texas to let me know. He and Cindy are there right now and he feels bad that he will be unable to be here for the funeral. I know he said he tried calling you. I have to work on Friday and Saturday and probably won't make it to the services, but just wanted to let you all know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sure Don is listening to polka music in heaven as he watches lovingly over all of you.

Don’s sister Barb and I were at her house. Don was there in uniform. We were quite a bit younger so of course we were star struck by him in uniform....then he opened a can of peas and ate them cold right out of the can. I don’t know why but I never forgot that.

My Dear Anita and family,
Please accept my sincere sympathy in the loss of your husband and father. Please know that you and your family will be
in my thoughts and prayers. May God Bless You and your family.
Maybe Don can be in a band in heaven and play a polka. Your cousin Tony loved to dance to a polka.
