Felix M. Zalewski, 90, Mosinee, quietly passed from this life and joined his beloved wife on February 13, 2021, just in time for Valentines Day.

Felix was born in Milwaukee to Eugene and Mary (Andrsczak) Zalewski on August 15, 1930. He was drafted into the Army in 1951 and served in Korea during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge in 1953. He met the love of his life Elaine Adams on a blind date after his military service. They were married in Leopolis, WI on October 8, 1955. Elaine and Felix moved their three children from Milwaukee to Mosinee in 1969. Felix worked as a master tile layer and also at American Can Corporation until he obtained a position as a janitor with the Mosinee School District. He cleaned, repaired, and maintained all three of the Mosinee Schools during his employment. He retired at the age of 62, and spent his retirement cleaning his home and taking care of his beloved granddaughters. Felix liked to keep busy and Elaine always had a project for him to do. He loved to refinish furniture and to work in the garden and was an active member of the Mosinee VFW post 8733, serving as commander with Elaine as Auxiliary Commander in 1971-1972.

He moved to Renaissance Assisted Living Facility in 2017 and lived there until his death.

Felix leaves behind; three children, Philip (Connie) Zalewski, Kathleen (William) Steele, and Robert (Julie) Zalewski; six grandchildren, Kaylee (Richard) Lietz, Brittany (Jed) Mahner, Mary (Brad) McKeever, Lianna (Jon) Jackson, Megan and Dana Steele; ten great-grandchildren, Savannah, Harleigh, Ethan, Isabella, and Bennett McKeever, Adelaide and Evelyn Jackson, Carter and Sophia Lietz, and Abraham Mahner. He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine; his parents, Eugene and Mary Zalewski; his sisters, Eleanor (Myles) Uttke, and Josephine (Charles) Behling.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday. Feb. 18, 2021 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Meuret will officiate. Burial will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service, all at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at

The family would like to thank the staff at Renaissance Assisted Living for their care of Felix.

In lieu of flowers or a memorial, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society in Felix’s name.

So sorry for your loss. Felix helped our Occupational Therapy Dept at North Central Health care as our “wood man”. He would cut out numerous items for our patients to work on. He was So Much Appreciated.

My sincere condolences to the Zalewski family. Felix's house on Mosinee Ave was on my walking route. Many times he was outside and would throw out his playful barbs telling me to "walk faster". Sometimes, I'd stop and we'd chat. He had the happiest disposition and outlook. A good man! RIP, Felix.
