Donald Eugene Ziemanski, 87, Mosinee, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning May 26th, 2021, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born on October 16th, 1933, in Arnold, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Clara Ziemanski. As a young man, he was drafted into the Army and served honorably for 2 years.

Don met the lovely Joyce Joan Wetzel, and they were united in Holy Matrimony on July 12th, 1958 in Oshkosh, WI at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on June 25, 2005.

Don was an active member of the La Crosse Diocese for Central Wisconsin and at St. Therese Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Mosinee Chapter of the Kiwanis Club.

He enjoyed bowling, golf, and basketball, along with playing cribbage. Don loved following the Packers, Badgers and Brewers, but mostly cherished watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren playing in a wide variety of sports.

Don is survived by his children, Donald (Debra) Ziemanski, Gleason, Randy (Vicki) Ziemanski, Mosinee, Brian (Jane) Ziemanski, Mosinee and Lisa (Tom) Spencer, Bryn Mawr, PA; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and sister, Evelyn Behling, Oshkosh.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother Richard, a sister Lorraine, an infant daughter Lori, and a beloved companion dog Winston.

A memorial service will be held on June 10, 2021 at 1:00pm at St Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Meuret will officiate. Burial will be at St Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. The smiles and laughter that he shared will be forever in our hearts. Fire up Jake! The phrase is golden and with it comes the knowledge that wherever you are everything will be okay. I will always remember the kindness, honesty and laughter he shared with everyone. He defended and spoke truths when others would not. He will be missed but I am certain heaven just became a better place with him there.
