Gary Lee Anderson, 76, of Mosinee, went to be with his Lord, after suffering from dementia and returning cancer on Saturday Dec. 31, 2016, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Wausau.
He was born in Babcock, WI on Nov. 12, 1940, the son of the late Emery and Dorothy (Regalia) Anderson. He Married Carol (Johnson) Allen on July 10, 1981 at Mosinee United Methodist Church, Mosinee. She survives.
Gary was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed telling stories about fishing and hunting from his childhood through adulthood. Simply standing at rivers edge, looking at the water, trees, land and sky was a joy to him. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Gary was also a loyal worker wherever he was employed. Despite long hours, he loved what he was doing and was a “company man”. He retired from Marathon Electric (Regal Beloit) as a process engineer in the 90’s due to heart problems. After his heart attack, he became a member of Mosinee United Methodist Church and Jesus became his savior and friend to the end.
After moving to Mosinee from Rockford, ILL, he continued his passion and served as an EMT on the Mosinee Fire Dept. He always prided himself as one of the first to join the Department that didn’t work at the mill. Another one of his joys was working at the Log Jam with the Rendezvous Group and being able to dress in his leather outfit and feel part of the past era. Gary was also a Mason and served in the Navy as a Corpsman.
Survivors, besides his wife Carol, include; his three step-sons, Mike (Gina) Allen, Dave Allen and Chuck (Karen) Allen; seven step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; his only sibling and brother, Robert (Terri) Anderson, Nekoosa; a nephew, Robert Jr. (Maria) Anderson, and their three children, Brianna, Ashly and Josh, all of Nekoosa. He is preceded in death by a son, Cody Anderson, that he loved and missed so very much.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Mosinee United Methodist Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Stanton Bockwoldt will officiate. Family will receive friends Friday from 9 a.m. until time of memorial service, all at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee is assisting the family with arrangements.
