Fern Austin, 103, formerly of Mosinee, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021, at Dimensions Living, Stevens Point.
She was born Aug. 15, 1918, in Eau Claire, the daughter of the late Victor and Louise (Johnson) Mattison. She married William Austin on April 4, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky. He died July 26, 1969. She then married Henry Spence in June of 1971. He died in October of 1982.
Fern was fashion conscious and artistic. Her life was all about her family.
Survivors include her children, Richard Austin, Wausau, William (Lynn) Austin, Minocqua, Jeanine (Rick) Tucker, Mosinee, and Ann (Larry) Carlson, Stevens Point; her stepchildren, Arlene Arndt, Ann Spence, Mary Nehrlich, Sue Daniel, Barb Cartalucca, Penny Spence, John Spence, Rick Spence, Bob Spence and Mike Spence; grandchildren, Mike (Kelly) Carlson, Jill Page, Becky Austin, Brook (Jake) Schira, Beth (Zach) Ernst, Ben (Karissa) Austin, Stacy (Steve) Kornetzke, Gerry (Mike) Benthein, Dani (John) Raymond, Austin Tucker and Emily (Jonah) Sirianni; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as a sister, Karen (Lyle) Sanderfoot.
She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Austin, brother, Roger (Myrna) Mattison, brother-in-law, Bob Jones, a daughter-in-law, Susan Austin, and two grandchildren, Billy Austin and Jim Carlson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at St. John Lutheran Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Phyllis Smoot will officiate. Burial will be in Eagle River Cemetery.
