Lester Baars

Lester H. Baars, 79, formerly of Mosinee, died Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.

He was born Jan. 6, 1939, in Wausau, the son of the late Cassius and Alma (Weisman) Baars. He married Janet Behn June 16, 1962, in Rothschild. She preceded him in death on November 25, 1999.

He was employed at the Mosinee Paper Mill and was an original member of the Kronenwetter Fire Department. Lester enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, and he loved to watch baseball games.

Survivors include his son, Brian Baars, Mosinee; his daughter, Brenda (Jason) Budnik, Mosinee; his grandchildren, Kyle Kaye James, Jessica Northway and Kraig James; and his great-grandchildren, Brendon, Kinsley, Brenna and Brylee. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Zastrow and four brothers, Harvey, Cassius Jr., Donald and Clarence.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m., Monday, July 30, 2018, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mosinee. The Rev. John Czarnota will officiate. Burial will be in Mosinee Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. Monday until time of services at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, assisted the family with arrangements.
