Ben Armstrong was born in Michigan on September 22, 1976. At the age of 47, after battling Cancer since 2017, Ben passed away at his home on May 23, 2024.
Ben leaves behind his beloved wife Kolleen Armstrong, whom he met at a high school dance and married a year later in 1996. They were just a month shy of celebrating their 28th Wedding Anniversary. Ben was a loving father of four: Elisabeth (Matthew), Rebecca, Alania, and Luke. He loved spending time with his family playing video games, cards, biking, rafting, going to parades, to Cedar Point and family vacations. Ben was always involved and used his knowledge to volunteer at Gilead Baptist Church in Michigan as a soundboard operator. He also taught scripture at a Senior Care Facility, The Regency Center.
His parents, Fred and (the late Linda) Armstrong raised five children whom Ben was the youngest of: Tammy (the late Ron) Lind, April (the late Wesley) Rolph, Fred (Flora) Armstrong, and Tim (Dawn) Armstrong.
Growing up in the Metro Detroit Area, it was obvious that Ben was destined to be in media. At the young age of four, he was recording himself pretending to be on the radio. While attending Henry Ford Community College, Ben pursued his dream by working for the college radio station, WHFR. Then at 19 years old, his first professional job was at a Christian Music Station, WMUZ in Detroit. From there, he worked his way through several different radio stations eventually realizing his talent was best suited for talk radio. His weekend talk show on WDTK had a tremendous response from the audience. He was known for making bold predictions and saying the things others are afraid to say. After many years of a successful weekend show, he was excited to take the next step into his radio career leaving Michigan in 2017 and being a major voice for WSAU as the #1 morning talk show host. There, he earned a 2018 Best Morning Radio Show award from WBA. He always said, “as one door closes, another opens” and it couldn’t have been more true. In 2021, he became an Independent Talk Show Host for The New American (The Ben Armstrong Show). As his illness progressed and he was unable to walk, he continued to record his radio show even while he was bedridden.
Ben always made sure everyone heard one truth – that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life and No One Comes to the Father Except through Him.
Ben leaves us with his love and the millions of memories of all that we have shared.
