David Joseph "Dave" Buchberger

David Joseph Buchberger was born on July 4, 1938, in Wausau, to Albert and Florence (Matushak) Buchberger. He was born to Eternal Life on May 11, 2016, at age 77.

David graduated from Newman High School and served in the Navy for four years. He married Rosemary Hoffman on Jan. 28, 1961. Together they had seven children, Faye of Mosinee, Anthony Albert (deceased), Anthony Joseph (Angel) of Normal, Ill., Kevin (Kimberly) of Ward, Ark., Susanne Scott (Julia) of Portage, Gregory of Madison, and David, Jr. (deceased).

David retired from J.I. Case (Drott Mfg.) and spent his retirement working with his Christmas trees and helping various people in Wausau and Mosinee as a handyman. Throughout his life, he enjoyed berry picking, his trees, and helping other family members.

David is survived by his wife Rosemary; five children; his grandchildren, Katrina (Curt) Matsche, Brandon Berlik, Collin Berlik, Amanda (Cody), Crystal, Hannah (Fernie), Abigail and Anna; three great-grandchildren; his brothers, George (Mary), Tom (Sharon), and Ron (Richard); his sisters, Patricia and Christine (Steve) Smolek; sister-in-laws, Marge and Jan; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, and brothers, Albert and Gerald.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2016, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. Visitation will be again from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations, in David’s name be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee or Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, Wausau.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, Wausau, and Dr. Jeanette Abraham for the tender and loving care they provided to David in his final days.
