Joan M. Carlson, 80, died peacefully with family by her side on March 3, 2017 at Gunderson Health Center in LaCrosse, WI.
She was born March 18, 1936, in Kronenwetter, WI to the late Hugo and Margaret (Bruening) Carlson. After graduating from Mosinee High School in 1954, Joan joined the United States Navy. She proudly served her country and during her time in service, she traveled the world. She retired from the USN in 1975 after 20 years of service. During her retirement, Joan loved to travel in her RV, camp with friends, and was a member of the Wisingles RV Club. On October 6, 2014, Joan was a member of the Never Forgotten Honor Flight XVIII, recognizing her dedicated years of service to our country. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mosinee, WI.
She is survived by her nieces Jo Ellen Bond, Rockford, IL, Rebecca (David) Lendman, Spencer, IN, and Deborah (Jeff) Jacobson, Rockton, IL; Aunt Joanne Bruenning and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert H. Carlson, and sister, Betty Lou Walter.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Marilyn Lange will officiate. Burial will be in Mosinee Cemetery, Mosinee. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday until time of services all at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee is assisting the family with arrangements.
