Cecelia E. Dunaj, 96, passed away peacefully in her chair Saturday, February 22, 2025. She was born November 11, 1928, in Mosinee, the daughter of the late Frank and Marie (Krzanowski) Zywicki. She met the love of her life, Stanley, at a polka dance. She wore a blue dress, and he asked her to dance to the “Blue Skirt Waltz.” They were married September 25, 1948, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee, for nearly 60 years; Stanley preceded her in death on June 19, 2008.
She held various jobs including factory working, Antlers restaurant, and retired from Mosinee High School as a laundry custodian in 1999. She was also a member of VFW Auxiliary 8733. She still lived independently and enjoyed casino trips with “Pa” and their children, playing cards, and listening to polkas as she did on her last day. But she loved cooking and baking for her family – pierogi, potato dumplings, desserts, pies, and chocolate chip cookies, which her children and grandchildren loved. No one left her home hungry or empty-handed.
Cecelia is survived by her five children: Kenneth (Barbara), Mosinee; Richard (Janel), Kronenwetter; Ronald, Kronenwetter; Joseph (Lori), Curtiss; and Susan (Randy Leder), Randolph; 13 grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; 17 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Josephine Hankosky, Frankfort, Illinois; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Stanley, Cecelia was preceded in death by her siblings: Agnes (Frank) Kukuczka, Josephine (Ted) Cynkar, John (Joanne) Zywicki, and George (Carolee) Zywicki.
