Connie M. Kostroski, 79, Mosinee, died Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Hospice House, Wausau, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born Aug. 15, 1943, the daughter of the late Leo and Josephine (Murawski-Hanz) Suchomski. She married James “Jim” Kostroski, her soulmate, on July 20, 1963, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. He survives. She was the proud mother of their son Keith, who also survives.
Connie was quick-witted and always had a smile on her face. An avid reader, she always had a Readers Digest Condensed Book at her side. She enjoyed feeding and watching all the birds, even crows. She truly enjoyed her horse, Lucky. She cherished and missed all the dogs she had throughout the years. Fishing was a favorite pastime of hers. She was known to bait the line for her son, Keith as a young boy and the other young kids before her own. She was usually very lucky but when her luck ran out, she would say “Let’s go! I’m tired of drowning these worms!”
She worked in Payroll, as a Payroll Clerk, at Federal Mogul until her retirement in 1998. Connie loved old classic country music, especially George Jones, when her brother Jerry Starr, played in his band. Accompanying Jim and Keith to car shows with their classic cars was always fun for her as well. Her final message to family and friends “I Love you all, thanks for the memories!”
Survivors, besides her husband, James, include one son, Keith Kostroski, Wausau; and a brother, Raymond (Arlene) Schomski, Harshaw. She is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Steege, and two brothers, Jerry and Robert Suchomski. She was further preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ben and Josephine Kostroski.
