Douglas Davis, 77, Mosinee, formerly of Hammond, Indiana, died Saturday, March 19, 2016, at his home.
He was born Nov. 28, 1938, in Hammond, Ind., the son of the late Wilford and Phyllis (Burroughs) Davis. He married Donna Drangmeister on June 17, 1961, in Hammond. She survives.
He was an U.S. Army veteran. He worked for and retired from Jewel Food Store in Indiana after 35 years of service. Most recently retired from Piggly Wiggly in Mosinee. Doug was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Hammond and became a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Dancy. He enjoyed spending time with his family, the outdoors, or just sitting down with a good book.
Survivors, besides his wife, Donna, Mosinee, include two sons, Douglas “Butch” (Therese) Davis and Dale Davis, both of Mosinee; a daughter, Deborah (James) Soltesz, Dyer, Ind.; six grandchildren, Donna Drangmeister, Chesterton, Ind., Daniel (Kristin) Davis, Michael Davis and Dale “DJ” Davis, all of Mosinee, and Julie (Michael) Raduenz and Jennifer (Michal) Broniek, both of Indianapolis,Ind.; two great-grandchildren, Austin Davis and Braylon Davis; four brothers-in-law, Albert (Patsy) Drangmeister, Kentland, Ind., Eugene (Randi) Drangmeister, Whiting, Ind., Kenneth (Pamela) Drangmeister, Crown Point, Ind., and Robert (Charlene) Drangmeister, DeMotte, Ind.; three sisters-in-law, Carol McIntosh, Princeton, Kentucky, Delores (Charles) Hess, Florence, Ariz., and Susan (Rex) Gluth, Rensselaer, Ind.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel and Milton.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church, Dancy. The Rev. Timothy Roser will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. Visitation will be again from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at the church.
