Florence Rose Dawiedczyk, 94, formerly of Mosinee, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Cedar Crest Health Care Center, Janesville.
She was born on August 24, 1922, in Peplin, the daughter of the late Stanley and Hattie (Matuszak) Tobojek. She married Stanley Dawiedczyk on September 4, 1943 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Peplin. They loved to dance. He preceded her in death on October 17, 1965.
She grew up on a farm and went off to the big city of Chicago at a young age to find employment as a nanny and worked in a laundry. During the war years she was employed at an airplane factory as one of the many “Rosie the Riveters”. She moved back to the farm to marry her sweetheart and raise their family. They moved off the farm to Mosinee and she owned and operated The Golden Beauty Haven for many years. She volunteered as a hairdresser for the elderly at Colonial Manor in Wausau, WI.
Florence moved to Janesville in 1994 to be closer to her children. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling, gardening and quilting. She was a perfectionist quilter, who spent many hours at the Janesville Senior Center quilting with her friends.
Survivors, include her daughter, Lucille Reasoner, Franklin, WI, son, Dennis (Sandra) Dawiedczyk, Janesville, WI, grandchildren; Traci Strait, Kelly Schultz, Daniel (Kathie) Dawiedczyk, Gayle (Jack) McManus, Katie (Tom Barry) Dawiedczyk, great grandchildren; Jaden, Matthew and Amy Strait, Spencer Schultz, Samantha Dawiedczyk, Allison and Erin Dawiedczyk, and Fiona McManus, great great grandchild, Cataleya Strait, sister in law, Helen Papa, as well as many nieces and nephews. Florence was preceded in death by her son in law, Thomas Reasoner, Siblings; Helen Boron, Frank Toboyek, Clara Westfal and Dolores Baran.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. Friday until the time of service at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is assisting the family with arrangements.
