James “Jim” R. DeBroux, 71, Mosinee, died Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born April 21, 1945, the son of the late Harold and Florence (Cherek) DeBroux. He married Mary Kay Radandt on Aug. 5, 1967, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
Jim graduated from Newman High School in Wausau and worked there for 19 years in a number of roles, from assistant football coach and English department chairman to acting principal. He moved to Mosinee High School in 1987 as associate principal, ascending to the principal position in January 1988. He was named state high school principal of the year in 2000.
Jim was a member of the Mosinee MAAC and Kiwanis Clubs. He was also a member of St. Paul Catholic Church serving as a lector and communion distributor. He was an avid fisherman and loved to be outdoors and in the woods. Jim truly took pride in being involved and working with his students. He also enjoyed traveling, golfing, music, theatre, and was a big Wisconsin sports fan.
Survivors, besides his wife, Mary Kay, include his children, Jon (Anne), Milwaukee and Bethany (Raymond Adams III) DeBroux, Wauwatosa. He is preceded in death by his father and mother- in-law, Elmer and Winnifred Radandt, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. William Grevatch will officiate and Rev. Donald Przybylski will be concelebrating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. Visitation will be again from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, until time of services at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is in charge of arrangements.
