Dennis E. Domagola, 73, Mosinee, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, with his family by his side.
Dennis was born on December 30, 1950, in Wausau, son of the late Joseph and Hattie (Lesniak) Domagola. He married Arlene Heil at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee, on Sept. 28, 2013, she survives (yes, he had the courage to marry at the age of 62 after being single all his life).
Denny was a farmer from the day he was born. He stopped milking cows in 2004 but continued to crop hay, soybeans and corn. At one time he also raised ginseng. In spite of the continual work of farming, Denny found time to enjoy softball, football, basketball, broomball, bowling, golf, church picnics, polka dancing, bike riding, family get togethers, black berry picking, cutting wood, making maple syrup, cracking black walnuts and helping neighbors. In 1969 he graduated from Mosinee High school where he set a record in the track 880 yard run at 2:11.8 (which is why he was put on the football team). He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, an usher at church, served in the National Guard and had a two-year degree from UW Madison in Agriculture.
But his most endearing quality was his extremely humble way of caring about people. Whenever he would see someone he knew, he would talk to them and ask how they were doing; and he could meet them a year later and remember the last thing they had talked about.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; sisters, Diane (Robert) Stepan, Mosinee, Debby (Larry) Brainerd, Lakeview, AR, and Denise (Ron) Clementi, Mosinee; 6 nephews Todd, Tad, Terry Stepan, Jason Simonis, Joseph and Donny Cousineau and 1 niece Annie Schara. Besides his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by one brother, Donald.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at St Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee, at 11:00 am. The Rev. Aaron Becker will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9:00 am until the time of service, all at the church. Beste Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
