Seamus James (Patrick) Doran, 94, died Saturday, March 12, 2016, at his home.
He was born May 7, 1921, in Rostrevor, North Ireland, the son of the late James and Kathleen (Hickey) Doran. He served as a young man in the Irish Army and emigrated to North America via Halifax, Nova Scotia to Toronto, Ontario and eventually to Chicago, Ill. Seamus worked for Illinois Central Railroad and Continental Grain Elevators in Chicago.
On Oct. 27, 1951, Seamus married Nora Hennigan in Chicago. After moving to Mosinee in 1970 he worked for Wausau Homes until his retirement in 1985.
Survivors, besides his wife, Nora, include seven sons, Thomas (Betsy) Doran, Mosinee, Kevin (Sheila) Doran, Galena, Ill., Brian (Colleen) Doran, Mosinee, Patrick (Beth) Doran, Colgate, Dermott (Lisa) Doran, Mosinee, Dan (Sue) Doran, Casco, and Owen (Cindy) Doran, Mount Horeb; 21 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Seamus was the eldest of ten siblings with two surviving brothers, Brendan and Sean, Rostrevor, North Ireland, and a sister, Margaret Cobb, Gurnee, Ill.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Halder. The Rev. Felix Tigoy will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Halder. Visitation will be from 4 p.m.to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. Visitation will be again from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until time of services at the church.
