Joseph J. Dvorak, 89, Knowlton, died Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was born March 7, 1928, the son of the late Martin and Anna (Knefel) Dvorak. He married Sharon L. Mallis on June 25, 1960, in the town of Knowlton. She survives.
Joe served his country as a Marine from 1952-1960 and was a member of the VFW. After he married Sharon, they lived in Chicago and moved back to Knowlton in 1961. In 1963, he took over his family farm, worked at the Mosinee Paper Mill and for the Town of Knowlton. He retired from farming in 1971, the Paper Mill in 1993 and the Town of Knowlton in 2007. After his retirement, they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Joe also enjoyed gardening, watching the Milwaukee Brewers and feeding his birds.
Survivors, besides his wife of 56 years, Sharon, include two sons, Robert (Mary Beth) Dvorak, and Kirt (Pamela) Dvorak; two daughters, Lori (Paul) VanDalen, and Joleen (Kevin) Newman, all of Mosinee; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Walter, and two sisters, Helen and Florence.
Services will be at 11:00 am, Friday, March 31, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church, Dancy. The Rev. Timothy Roser will officiate. Burial will be at Mosinee Cemetery, Mosinee. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. Visitation will be again Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services and the church.
