Eugene “Gene” L. Follett Jr, 86, of Mercer, was called into his Lord’s arms on April 22, 2018 at Cedar Creek Manor in Kronenwetter.
Eugene was born on April 13, 1932 in Milwaukee, son of the late Eugene and Norma (Trapp) Follett. He was baptized on November 13, 1932 and later confirmed on May 19, 1946 at Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.
He served in the U.S. Army with the 1st Infantry Division in Germany during the Korean War as a Chaplain’s assistant. On May 7, 1955 he married Darlene Maurer. She passed away on April 16, 2013.
Eugene operated Follett Electric in Mercer for many years and developed many good friendships with his customers over those years.
Eugene enjoyed his German music, traveling, sunshine, gardening and his church family.
He is survived by his children, Dawn Follett, John (Sarah) Follett, and Mark (Barb) Follett. Grandchildren Amanda, Eric, Lucian, Gabby, Erin, and Stephen, great-grandchildren, Austin, Max, Isaiah and Kristina. Besides his wife, Eugene was preceded in death by a son, Karl Follett.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Mercer at 11:30 on May 12, 2018 with visitation from 10:30 until the time of the service, all at the church.
