David J. Gburek, 78, died on Sunday, December 4, 2016, at St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston.
He was born on March 9, 1938, the son of the late Joseph and Sophia (Pawlik) Gburek. He married Sandy Gotski on Oct. 8, 1960, in the town of Mosinee. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2005. He married Barbara Stefanska on May 3, 2008 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee, she survives.
David was a hardworking man all his life. After growing up on a farm, he turned to truck driving for Dahlman Truck Line, Stevens Point. Once his family came along he returned to dairy farming in Knowlton until he retired in 1993. Once the farm was gone, he went back to the road driving for Blue Eagle Trucking almost to his last days. Dave - aka The Black Pollack - was not only passionate about his faith in God and his family, but also to polkas and polka dances. Dave was well known for his firm hugs and had a script for needing 8-a-day. He will now and forever be "Fair to Midland".
Survivors, besides his wife, four sons; Mark (Cindy) Gburek, Las Vegas, Joseph Gburek, Mosinee, Gary (Jacki) Gburek, Mosinee, Alan Gburek, Mosinee, a daughter, Lisa (Alan) Cherek, Mosinee, and one step-son, Jon Pawel (Emilia) Zacharczuk, Poland. 10 Grandchildren; Jocelyn (Patrick) Mendez, Michele Prieskorn, Lindsey (Andrew) Marlborough, Jacob, Sydni, Zoe, and Sophia Gburek, Jaydon, Wyatt and Brock Cherek. Three step-grandchildren; Jan, Aleksandra and Anna Zacharczuk. Six great-grandchildren; Genevieve, Giogiana, Logan and Evan Mendez, John Prieskorn, and Nicholas Rodrigues. Three brothers; Clarence (Audrey) Gburek, Marengo, ILL, Alfred Gburek, Plover, and Jerome Gburek, OR. Two sisters; Anita (Myron) Kedrowski, Reseda, CA, and Jean Conrad, OR. He was preceded in death by a son, Todd Gburek, a daughter, Michele Schultz, two brothers, James and Norman, and one sister, Sally.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, December 12, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, where at 3:30 p.m. there will be a Rosary Service.
