Stanley R. Hahn

March 4, 1925 — October 31, 2020

Stanley R. Hahn, 95, formerly of Mosinee, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, at The Bay at Colonial Manor, Wausau.

He was born March 4, 1925, in Tigerton, the son of the late Charles and Emma (Sengstock) Hahn. He married his loving bride Andrea Kreitzer on Sept. 19, 1953, in Wittenberg, and were married for 67 years. She survives.

Stanley “Stash” was a wonderful, loving husband and father and is deeply missed. He was a very hardworking, kind and quiet man. The youngest of five children, he was born and raised in Tigerton. He loved playing baseball and basketball and working on the family farm. He enlisted in the Army at age 20 and was stationed and served in Passow Germany.

After their daughter Julie was born they moved to Compton, California for 1½ years. He took a job with Midwest Breeders (21st Century Genetics) and moved back to Wisconsin and raised their two daughters in a modest home in Mosinee. He retired after 25 years of service. What made his job so fulfilling and rewarding were the farmers he got to know so well and their families.

Even though he worked 6½ days a week and could only attend church on Easter and Christmas, the love of Jesus was deep in his heart.

Stan loved golf. He and Andrea were charter members at Indianhead Golf Course and even picked rock by hand to clear the fields before the land could be made into plush greens and fairways. So much of his summer was spent there playing golf with his family and friends. When he wasn’t golfing he would be watching golf tournaments on TV. He golfed until he was 86.

In the winters he loved to bowl. He was a really good bowler and would bowl in leagues and tournaments with the same golf buddies.
Even though Stan had a full work and social life, his family was the most important part of his life. He never missed a concert, play, or sports event that his daughters were in. He even found time to coach little league baseball in town.

Stan was amazing on the grill and also made the best crock pickles and bread and butter pickles, and his family carries on those recipes still.

Stanley enjoyed watching the Milwaukee Braves and Brewers on TV but his big love was the Green Bay Packers. Even after the Alzheimer’s was stealing him away, you wouldn’t see him without his Packers cap.
When Stan got older and unable to golf, his passion turned to feeding the birds. They brought him great happiness and smiles, and we’ll remember those smiles forever in our hearts.

But Stanley’s biggest smiles came from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He just couldn’t believe how lucky he was to have such smart, talented and kind blessings.

Survivors, besides his wife, Andrea, include two daughters, Julie (Bradley) Daniels, Muskego, and Cathy (Rick)) Tobalsky, Wausau; his grandchildren, Kersten (Evin) Buffalo, Kaylie (Alex Manchester) Daniels, Eric (Miranda) Manley, Jayme (Anthony) Shirek and Matthew (Kristi) Tabalsky; and his great-grandchildren, Gavin, Kade, Tessa, Carter, Cora, Bryce, Brooke, Chloe, Raegan, Brantley, James, Morgan, Kopin, George and Evelyn. He was preceded in death by a baby boy, Steven, who died at birth, a granddaughter, Amber, two brothers and two sisters.

A loving tribute will be held at 12 noon Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. Stanley’s grandson Matt will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. Saturday until time of services at the funeral home. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, assisted the family with arrangements.
