Regina E. Helminiak, 86, Knowlton, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, at Rennes Health and Rehab Center, Weston.
She was born Dec. 16, 1932 in Stevens Point, the daughter of the late Walter and Rosie (Hintz) Jerzak, and spent her childhood in their family home in Plover. She graduated and received her diploma in 1950 from PJ Jacob’s School in Stevens Point. She married the love of her life, Edward Helminiak, on June 15, 1952, and started a family of their own in 1954. Gina worked at Del Monte’s in Plover for nearly 30 years and spent her free time raising her four boys. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, teaching her grandchildren how to play cards, shopping at the local Piggly Wiggly, toast with her morning coffee, weekend rummaging for things she didn’t really need, a daily dose of The Price Is Right, Sunday polkas, and raising rabbits with her son, Ron.
Survivors include her sons, Ronald Helminiak and Michael (Sue) Helminiak, both of Knowlton, and Gerald (Ann) Helminiak, Stevens Point; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Grace Ledebahr and Leona Jerzak, both of Plover. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward on April 3, 1995, a son, Steven, and two brothers, Raymond and Henry Jerzak.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Knowlton. The Rev. James Trempe will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Knowlton. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Thursday until time of services at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be made at www.bestefh.com.
