Gail E. Johnson, 71, Wausau, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, and
great-grandmother, with family by her side, was welcomed into the loving arms of our heavenly
Father on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021, at Aspirus Hospital, Wausau.
She was born May 8, 1950, in Robbinsdale, MN, the daughter of the late John and Virginia
(Forbes) Wallen. She married Larry Johnson on June 29, 1975, in Puposky, MN. He survives.
Gail spent her early years in Northern Minnesota until she met Larry. They moved to Wisconsin
where they raised their five children. She enjoyed volunteering every summer for 20 years at
church camp. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, traveling, and gardening. She had a
strong faith in Jesus and her greatest joys in life were her husband, kids, and grandbabies. One
thing she always said was, “No matter where you go in life, you are always welcome home.”
She was always ready to greet anyone with a great, big hug.
Gail is survived by her five children: Cindy (Rick) Kalbes - Manitowoc, Waylon (Kelli Trudeau)
Johnson - Wausau, John (Kara) Johnson - Weston, Dan (Lydia) Johnson - Wausau, and
Amanda Johnson - Wausau. Grandchildren, Elizabeth (Joey) Blashka - Manitowoc, Eric Kalbes
- Manitowoc, Emily (Anthony Hardtke) Kalbes - Manitowoc, Abbie (Daniel Denkins) Kalbes -
Manitowoc, Austin Buckholtz - Madison, Claire Johnson - Weston, Ian Johnson - Weston,
Roburt Johnson -Wausau, and Bruce Lee Roy England - Wausau. Great-grandchildren,
Maddox and Korbin Blashka, Jerrick Kalbes, Anthony Jr., and Jamison Hardtke, Helen and
Vivian Denkins. A sister, Teresa (Lon) Simpson - Nevis, MN. Two brothers, Tom (Lucinda)
Fisher - Nevis, MN., and Dan (Jessica) Fisher - Bismarck, ND. As well as many cousins,
nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at Living Well Faith Community Church, Rev.
Frank Ritchie will officiate. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. until the time of services at the church. For those who are unable to make it, a live stream of the service will begin at 2:55 p.m. and can be found on Gail Johnson’s Facebook page. Flowers can be ordered through Evolutions in
