Genevieve (Markiewicz) Kaprzycki, 82, died Saturday, May 26, 2018 in Norridge, IL.
She was born July 27, 1935 in Chicago, IL the baby daughter of the late Stanley and Zofia (Betlinski) Markiewicz. Her parents immigrated from Poland to the Bucktown area of Chicago before WWI to look for a better life to raise their family. Ever resourceful, during WWII, When Genevieve was eight years old, her and her older brother sold flowers to patrons of neighborhood taverns to help the family finances. She relied upon the good Sister of the Holy Family of Nazareth to provide her lessons in English.
Genevieve met her husband of 38 years, Conrad Kasprzycki, at the local candy store in Bucktown. They married Sept. 10, 1955 at St. Hedwig’s Church, raising their two children, in the same neighborhood as her youth. Conrad preceded her in death by 25 years and five days.
As a full-time working mother, Genevieve was involved with St. Hedwig Parish bingo, carnivals and Mother’s Club events. She was most proud of her education from St. Hedwig’s, Murray F. Tuley High School, Northwestern Business College and Wright Junior College.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet Jean Kasprzycki of Chicago, IL; and a son, Wayne Conrad Kasprzycki (Jodi Green) of Peplin, WI. Genevieve is preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings, Eleanor, Henry and Stanley.
Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m., Friday June 8, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Peplin. The Rev. James Trempe will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until time of services, Friday all at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee is assisting the family with arrangements.
