Donald L. Koss, 85, Mosinee, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020 at Tender Reflections Community Center, Weston.
He was born on Nov. 27, 1934 in Knowlton, the son of the late Leonard and Irene (Brish) Koss. He married Anita Engman on Sept. 17, 1960, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. They enjoyed 59+ years of married life together. She survives.
Don graduated from Mosinee High School in 1953. A proud United States Army Veteran served in Korea with the 19th Q.M. Company in Taegau. He also served in the National Guard until 1962. He worked at the Mosinee Paper Mill for 44 years, retiring in 1997 as a No.2 machine tender. Don played drums with the Polka Band, Wisconsin Valley Dutchmen and played on Sunday afternoon hardball team during the 50s and 60s. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, spending time with family and helping the neighbors. Even though, Parkinson Disease slowed him down later in life, he still found enjoyment in all these things. He was also a lifelong member of St. Paul Parish.
Survivors, besides his wife, Anita, include four sons: Daniel (Cyndi) Koss, Monument, CO, Michael (Michele) Koss, Weston, Patrick (Karen) Koss, Appleton, and Scott (Marisa) Koss, Milwaukee; two daughters, Cheryl (Ted Storin) Mocadlo, Verona, and Jacqueline Higgins, Stevens Point; Grandchildren: Jeremy (Jessica) and Daniel (Marisol) Koss, Nate and Ben Mocadlo, Kaylyn (Markus), Kassandra, and Michael Koss, Jack and Jenelle Higgins, Grace and Severin Koss, and Lauren and Noah Koss; Great-Grandchildren: Kaydence and Kaleb Koss, Logan and Raegan Koss, and Charli Kay Catlin; one brother, Carl Koss; two sisters, Barb (Fred) Wilke, and Pam Hubbard; and a brother-in-law, Vernon Kesy. He is preceded in death by a sister, Valeria Kesy, sister-in-law, Arnelle Koss, brother-in-law, Robert Hubbard, and nephew, Randy Hubbord.
Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Meuret will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Visitation will be Friday, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, where at 4:30 p.m. there will be a rosary service.
