Elaine Koss, 85, Mosinee, died Friday, April 2, 2021, at Maple Ridge Memory Care, Plover.
The world is a lonelier place with the passing of our beloved Elaine. She left this earth to take her place in Our Father’s Heavenly Kingdom.
She was the firstborn of Leo and Grace (Catlin) Pelot of Sept. 14, 1935. She was the leader of the Pelot children. On May 28, 1970, she married Russel Koss. He preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 2014.
Elaine spent most of her life in the Knowlton area and was very active at St. Francis Xavier Church. You could always find her tending her garden on a warm summer day and caring for the log house her and Russ built together with logs harvested from their land. Her cooking was legendary when it came to feed the deer hunting crew and her baking was second to none.
Surivors include her siblings, John (Evelyn) Pelot, Edward (Phyllis) Pelot, Marge (Dennis) Lerch, Benny (Linda) Pelot and Leo (Anee) Pelot. She had one son, James Altenburg and a granddaughter, Mindi (Adam) Woodward along with two great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Knowlton. The Rev. James Trempe will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Knowlton. COVID restrictions with face masks and social distancing will be required. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. Online condolences can be directed to the family at www.bestefh.com.
