Bruce Allan Kowalski

June 29, 1949 — November 14, 2021

Bruce A. Kowalski, 72, Kronenwetter, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021, at his home.

He was born on June 29, 1949, the son of Annabelle (Hintz) Kowalski, Mosinee and the late Vincent Kowalski. On Oct. 25, 1969, he married Susan Shebelski. She survives.

Raised in Kronenwetter, Bruce worked for Rondeau Cold Storage, but was also an all-conference athlete in two sports. Upon graduating from Mosinee High School in 1967, and continuing to play competitive softball during the summers, he briefly attended UW-Stevens Point. He was hired at the Weyerhaeuser paper mill in Rothschild. He married his high school sweetheart and they began a family. In 1976, he built his family a home in Mosinee where Bruce and Sue raised their four children. To better provide for his family, he earned an Associate’s degree in electrical technology. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing with close friends. Yet he always found time for others, from wiring new homes to devising his children’s high school science projects, and attending every sporting event in which his children participated. After ensuring that each of his children could afford a college education, he built a second house in Kronenwetter in 1996. His lawn was impeccable. He became a doting grandfather and, after 44 years of service, retired from the Rothschild papermill in 2012. He and his wife began spending their summers in Eagle River. They enjoyed time on their pontoon boat and visiting with friends and family around the campfire. After a twelve-month battle with cancer, he left this world surrounded by his family. He will be remembered for his strength and generosity, wit and resourcefulness, honesty and gentleness, and a lifetime of selflessly putting the needs of those he loved ahead of his own.

Besides his wife, Susan, Bruce is survived by his four children: Dean (Patricia) Kowalski, Waukesha, Corey (Jennifer) Kowalski, Mosinee, Beth (Jeremy) Wojcik, Plover, and Amber (Sam) Molski, Plover; nine grandchildren: Nicholas and Cassie Kowalski, Madison, Tucker and Carson Kowalski, Audrey and Joseph Wojcik, and Grant and Reid Molski; three brothers: Gary (Mary) Kowalski, Glenn (Vicki) Kowalski, Blaine (Mary) Kowalski, all of Mosinee; two sisters: Joy (Joe) Knoedler, Mosinee and Jill Kowalski, Schofield; and many nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held. Online condolences can be made at bestefh.com.
