Winifred “Winnie” L. Krieg, 75, Mosinee, went to be with the Lord, Monday, August 8, 2016, at Rennes Health and Rehab Center, Weston.
She was born August 18, 1940, in Amherst Junction, the daughter of the late Art and Rosemary (Masanz) Schilling. Winnie married Leander Krieg on June 2, 1962 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee.
Winnie worked as a RN for 36 years at St. Mary’s and Aspirus Wausau Hospital in the OB department. Winnie’s greatest joy was her family, especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was known to play a competitive game of Canasta and hours of playing her favorite family board game of Aggravation. Winnie loved to play BINGO with friends and family. She enjoyed going to Paul’s art shows as she was so proud of his work. She also loved traveling with her sister Donna to various places such as Niagara Falls and Yellowstone National Park. They ventured on a cruise trip to the East Coast over Maine into Canada. Winnie’s all-time favorite was going to Alaska, she loved the picturesque scenery there, and raved about Mt. McKinley.
Her favorite pastimes included collecting beanie babies and coins. She was a diehard Elvis fan. Amongst her beloved animals were her two favorite dogs; Buffy and Jasmine. NASCAR racing Sundays were always fun. Lee’s favorite nickname for Winnie was his “Win-Win.” She was known to be lucky. Winnie was one of the bravest souls on this Earth and will be sadly missed by those who knew her.
Survivors include her husband: Leander Krieg, Mosinee; Children: Bill Krieg, Mosinee, Paul Krieg, Mosinee, Mary Kay (Scott) Holzem, Wausau, Mark Krieg, Mosinee, Lori (Robert) Henry, Converse, TX, Tom Krieg, Weston, and Dan (Stacie) Krieg, Stratford. Grandchildren: Amanda Hytry, Lance Krieg, Alexa Krieg, Cole Krieg, Derek Krieg, Taya Henry and Robert Henry, Jr. Sister: Donna (Bob) Draeger, Waupaca. Brother-in-law Jerome Krieg, Mosinee, Sister-in-law Sharon Krieg, Lafayette, LA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2016, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate. Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery, Halder. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. where at 4:00 p.m. there will be a rosary service at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee.
