Stephan C. Leiterman, 77, Mosinee, died on Monday, October 10, 2022, at Marshfield Hospital.
He was born on Aug. 19, 1945, in Sheboygan, WI, son to the late Clarence and Helen (Carlson) Leiterman. Steve graduated from MATC in 1968 with a degree in Chemical Technology. He married Ellen Grohskopf on August 31, 1968, at St. Peter Claver Parish in Sheboygan, WI. She survives.
The Leiterman’s moved to Mosinee in the Fall of 1974 where Steve began his career as an Analytical Chemist for the Mosinee Paper Company. He retired in 2008.
Steve played basketball in college, bowled, and spent each winter on the ski hill where he taught his family to ski. Steve always knew how many times to go down the hill to make it worth the cost of the ticket. Each hunting season, Steve would trudge out into the woods to watch the deer while holding his rumored-to-be-loaded gun. Steve truly loved Wisconsin sports. Whether it was watching the Brewers, Badgers, or the Packers who became a special treat after waiting 27 years to get season tickets. He was a proud Papa and Grandpa watching anything his kids and grandkids participated in.
Steve loved his community. He served in both city and county government, was an active member of the Mosinee Lions Club, the American Chemical Society, and supported his parish, St. Paul Catholic Church.
Traveling was a passion for Steve. He and Ellen spent many vacations driving to destinations around North America. No matter where he was, he was always able to find someone to talk to. Beyond anything, Steve would want to be remembered as a nice, friendly person.
Steve is survived by his wife, Ellen; his children, Jennifer (Mark) Schommer, and Michael (Sarah) Leiterman; four grandsons, Connor, Quintin, Leopold, and Augustus; Steve's siblings, Audrey, Thomas, and Carl (Sue Jackan); as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Steve was preceded in death by a brother, Ted.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. Father Don Meuret will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9:30 am until the time of service, all at the Funeral Home. Online condolences may be directed to the family at www.bestefh.com.
