Dorothy Joan Leitgeb (Gronski)

Dorothy J Leitgeb, 92, Mosinee, died peacefully at home on Friday, August 6, 2021.

She was born January 13, 1929, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Kasper and Stella Prorok Gronski. On October 23, 1948, she married Fred Leitgeb at St Paul Catholic Church in Mosinee, WI. Together they shared 67 wonderful years of marriage until Fred's passing on July 5, 2016.

There are so many fond memories of Dorothy. Mom was a loving wife, mother, grandma and friend; blessed with many lasting friendships. Her beautiful smile lit up a room - more importantly she treated her family and anyone in her life with unconditional love and support. She was devout Catholic and a member of St Paul Catholic Church.

Dorothy was a licensed cosmetician for 30 years and an accomplished homemaker her whole life.

Mom loved to entertain whether it was family holidays, gatherings at their cottage or camping with the Marshlander group. She had an artistic flair, could paint or originate anything. Enjoyment was found in crocheting, cooking and baking (always specialty cakes for the family) and not to forget her Kolacky cookies, coffee cakes and famous mush cake dessert.

During their younger years, dad and mom loved to travel throughout the United States; either it was a road trip in the van or a venture in their motor home - or just tooling in Wisconsin. A special densitation was California to visit cousins Theo and Dave along with their children. Moms’ favorite past time with family and friends was playing cards, puzzles, water exercise (fun with her friends) or afternoon bingo.

Dorothy is survived by her three daughters, Linda (James) Campbell, Laura (Gary) Klotzbuecher, both of Mosinee and Kathleen Schadeck, Middleton; her grandchildren, Robert (Heather) Johnson, Nina Abel, Nyles Hofmann, Jaime Stepan, Benjamin Fochs, Rikkell Green, Danielle (Brian) Reinicke and Alexi Schadeck; great-grandchildren, Kalib, Tucker, Candace, Anya, Garreth, Isaac, Lily, Daisy, Brynley and Bella. Besides her parents and husband Fred, Dorothy was preceded in death by sister Geraldine Senski and brother-in-law Charles Leitgeb.

On behalf of Dorothys family, a special thank you to Compassus Hospice Home Care, Brandy, Michael & Megan. And warmest thanks to Jacque Tomski and Erin Yusten for the care they gave mom in her home. Also, would like to include mom’s neighbors whose kindness blessed not only her but the family.

A mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2021, at St Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Meuret will officiate. Burial will be at St Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. Friday, until the time of service, all at church. Beste Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
