Fred J. Leitgeb, 90, Mosinee, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at his home with his family beside him.
He was born April 1, 1926, in Chicago, Ill., the son of the late Adolph and Gertrude (Veling) Leitgeb. He married Dorothy Gronski on Oct. 23, 1948, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. She survives.
He was employed at Western Electric in Cicero, Ill., for 35 years as a section chief for engineering and manufacturing, retiring in 1979. For 17 years Fred served on the Variance Committee for the City of Mosinee. In the good old days, Fred enjoyed gardening, golfing, cruising on his pontoon, fishing and spending time with his family at their cottage on Crescent Lake in Rhinelander. His favorite past times were daily crossword puzzles, Chicago Bears and White Sox, along with an array of sports and camping. Fred was an avid woodworking craftsman; very passionate in building cabinetry and furniture for his wife and children.
Survivors, besides his wife, Dorothy, include his three daughters, Linda Hofmann-Campbell and Laura (Gary) Klotzbuecher, both of Mosinee, and Kathleen Schadeck, Middleton; his grandchildren, Nina Abel, Robert (Heather) Johnson, Nyles Hofmann, Jaime Stepan, Benjamin Fochs, Rikkell Green, Danielle (Brian) Reinicke, and Alexi Schadeck; great-grandchildren, Kalib, Tucker, Anya, Garreth, Isaac, Lily, Daisy, Candace, and baby girl on the way; a brother, Charles Leitgeb; and his sister-in-law, Geraldine Senski.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate. Burial will be St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. Visitation will be again from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until time of services at the church.
