Miram W. Lenz, 84, Mosinee, died peacefully, Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, at House of the Dove in Marshfield.
He was born July 5, 1938, in Mosinee, the son of the late William and Helen (Svehla) Lenz. He married Rita Vesely on Jan. 11, 1969, at St. John Lutheran Church, Mosinee. She preceded him in death on Nov. 7, 1973.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the 84th Engineering Division. He served active duty as an army Medic from 1962-1964 and then active reserve from 1964-1968, at which time he received an honorable discharge.
After returning from service, he was employed at Mosinee Paper Corporation in the research and development lab. He remained there until retiring in 1998. Miram loved hunting and gardening. He took great pride in his gladiolus and tulips, but his specialty was the gigantic pumpkins. He was an avid racing fan as well as being a faithful follower of the Mosinee girls basketball team and UWSP girls college basketball.
He attended St John’s Lutheran Church in Mosinee where he was instrumental in setting up their endowment fund.
Survivors include a brother, Reinold (Marlene) Lenz, Merrill; a sister, Lois Obermeier, Mosinee; and nieces and nephews, Brian Lenz, Brad (Gina) Lenz, Brenda (Mark Giese) Lenz, Dale (Wanda) Obermeier, Roxann (Bernard) Wanta, Robert (Debra) Obermeier and Russell (Tammy) Obermeier.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at St. John Lutheran Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Phillis Smoot will officiate. Burial will be in Mosinee Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until time of service at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is assisting the family with arrangements.
