Lillian Springer, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 103 years old.
Lillian was born on March 13, 1922, in Mosinee, Wisconsin, the youngest daughter of John and Hedwig (Jucuk) Krzanowski. On April 20, 1940, she married the love of her life, George Springer, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in her hometown.
In 1943, Lillian and George moved to Chicago, Illinois, where they built a life together and raised their three children. Lillian worked for 14 years at Bankers Life and Casualty and balanced her professional life with her deep devotion to family. After three decades in Chicago, the couple relocated to Algonquin, Illinois, where Lillian continued her career—spending 18 years as a supervisor at Robert Hall before later working at KBI Ban International, a company that produced diesel starters.
Lillian was a woman of many talents and deep passions. She loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, often finding joy and peace in the beauty she created around her home. A gifted artist, she painted murals in her living room and made beautiful handmade blankets and crafts for her loved ones. Her creativity was matched only by her generosity—Lillian had a heart for helping others, especially the sick.
After retiring, Lillian and George returned to Mosinee to be closer to their roots and family. Even in retirement, she remained active and engaged—volunteering at Acorn Hills Assisted Living Facility, where her kindness and care left a lasting impact on both residents and staff. She was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and St. Monica’s, serving her church community in many ways over the years.
Lillian was known for her warm, comforting spirit, her delicious homemade soups and desserts, and her ability to make everyone around her feel welcome and loved. Her presence was a gift to her family and the many friends whose lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, George Springer; her children Richard, Stanley, and Marcella (Burt); her parents, John and Hedwig; her son-in-law Brian Burt; grandson Ronald; seven brothers—Joseph, William, John, Mike, Frank, Thomas, and Stanley—and three sisters—Jennie, Theodora, and Marie.
Lillian is survived by her grandchildren Robert (Angela), Natalie, and Dawn; her step-grandchildren Adam and Nicole; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who adored her.
Lillian will be remembered for her boundless love, her unwavering faith, and her legacy of kindness. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
