Lorraine Eve Liter (89), passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Pride TLC, Weston.
She was born April 25, 1932, in Wausau, daughter of the late Edwin and Alice (Narlock) Stoltz. On October 3, 1953, she married Donald Liter at St. Therese in Rothschild. They were married for 58 years until Donald’s death in October of 2011.
Lorraine was an outstanding homemaker, wife, mother to six children and grandmother to eight grandchildren.
A mother never gets a day off. In addition to caring for family, she assisted Don with his American Family Insurance business in Mosinee. She provided loving care to a child with complex medical needs and for a few years, she even worked at Krueger’s Shoe Store. Lorraine was also an avid sports mom and grandmother.
No one ever went hungry when “Gran” was around. She would win a blue ribbon for her apple pies. Don and Lorraine were “Gypsies” who loved to travel. They made several road trips to Alaska and Oregon where their sons live, as well as numerous national parks. Together they enjoyed two cottages, the first at Lake Gogebic and later at Van Vliet Lake, where Gran always had a fire in the pit as well as in the wood-burning stove. All who visited them at the cottage engaged in card playing and old fashioneds. They often kidnapped their grandchildren to enjoy the lake life and to nurture their love for nature.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Pride TLC where Lorraine resided for the past five years, and to Aspirus Hospice Staff.
