Neil Leo Magrecke

Neil L. Magrecke, 84, Rothschild, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born Nov. 7, 1937, the son of the late Leo and Leona (Baumann) Magrecke. He married Patricia Doze on Feb. 11, 1961. She survives.

Neil worked for JI Case (Drott) for many years. There he worked as a Cost accountant. His natural gift for numbers came in handy when he became the treasurer for Local UAW 1489. Neil loved the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. He also tried his hand at metal detecting which afforded him some interesting treasures. He was sought out by law enforcement and members of the community to help locate various missing items. And on occasion, Neil also liked to treasure hunt at his favorite casino.

Survivors, besides his wife, Patricia; include his children, Jeffrey Magrecke, Nashville, TN, Sheryl Magrecke, Eland, WI, Mike Magrecke, Brighton, MI, Timothy (Esther) Magrecke, Mazomanie, WI, and Linda (Shawn) Vernon-Rayno, Wilmington, NC; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra, a grandson, Bryce, and his sister, Barbara Gernetsky.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. The Pastor Chris Juvinall will officiate. Burial will take place at Mechanic’s Ridge Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service, all at the funeral home.
