Kathryn (Patty) McGowan, 83, Wausau, died peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2022.
She was born May 8, 1939, in Mosinee, the daughter of the late Otto and Katherine (Schantz) Rindfleisch. She married Emil McGowan on Oct. 26, 1957, at United Methodist Church in Mosinee.
Patty’s first job was at Rondeau Cheese Packaging plant where she poked the holes in the swiss cheese. She then went on to be a bookkeeper for Emil’s business Wausau Spring and Alignment for 44 years until they retired, and his son Al took over the business. Patty enjoyed going to stock car races, up north to the cottage and to all the different casinos where you could hear her saying – jackpot!. Patty always loved warm weather, the warmer the better she would always say. Patty, Annie (Patty’s sister) and Sue (her daughter) enjoyed going on many trips…. Of course, only in the warm weather.
Patty’s hobby was collecting salt and pepper shakers at all the places she would visit, she has over 600 of them. She was an active member of Western Fraternal Life Association (ZCBJ) and The Jim Beam bottle club.
Survivors include her husband Emil, a daughter, Sue (Gage Thompson) McGowan and a son Alan (Karla) McGowan; a brother Frank (Carleen) Rindfleisch; many nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was proceeded in death by four brothers, Bill, Art, Otto and Edward, and five sisters Irene, Helen, Marie, Lillian and Annie.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, August 20th, 2022, at Beste Funeral Home in Mosinee. Pastor Phyllis Smoot will officiate. Burial will be held in Mosinee Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, August 19, at Beste Funeral Home, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue Saturday, 10:00 until the time of service all at the Funeral Home.
