Harold Joseph Mezera, 90, died on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born on April 26, 1928, the son of the late Frank and Clara (Sprosty) Mezera. He Married Ethel Henry on June 18, 1949. After 65 years together, she preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 2014.
Harold graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in June 1949, married Ethel the next day and moved to Junction City to Manage the DuBay Cranberry Company. He helped grow the marsh from its infancy to over 180 acres. He also won the Service Award from the Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association.
Harold loved wood working and created many beautiful pieces that he freely shared with family and friends. He loved fishing and was an avid gardener, and no one raised better winter squash or black raspberries.
Harold was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. He led by example and he was a faithful, humble, generous and patient man.
He is survived by his five children; Michael (Mary) Mezera, Neenah, Patricia (Raphael) Bloom, Port St. Lucie, FL, David (Chistine) Mezera, Iola, Gail (John) Denny, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Todd (Elizabeth) Mezera, Elmhurst, IL; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis (Betty) Mezera, Eau Claire; and a sister, Catherine Steger, Praire DuChien. He is preceded in death by an infant son (Randy), three brothers and five sisters.
Services with be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2018, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Knowlton. The Rev. James Trempe will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services, Monday, all at the church. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery, Knowlton.
