Henry J. Mulder Sr., 90, Rib Mountain, passed peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, at Acorn Hill, Mosinee, with his family by his side.
He was born Nov. 6, 1932, in Wausau, WI, the son of the late Richard and Pauline (Zakowiecke) Mulder. He married Lorna Mae Fredrick on March 17, 1951, in Wausau, she survives. Shortly after their marriage, they settled in Rib Mountain. Henry and Lorna celebrated 71 years of marriage.
Henry, most commonly known as Hank, was born in Wausau and his family moved to Chicago shortly after. He and his brother Richard started working at the young age of eight to help save money to move back to Wisconsin. Hank worked until he was in his late 70’s as a logger, which was a lifelong passion. He enjoyed going to work in the woods, and recently even dreamt about it, mentioning that he wished he could go out to work in the woods again.
As a younger man, he really enjoyed hunting with his sons. He loved dogs, hunted rabbits with his all-time favorite Beagle, “Jack”, and also enjoyed deer hunting. His love for fishing increased as his desire to hunt decreased. He enjoyed watching deer, rabbits, and birds in his yard instead of hunting them. He liked to fish in the summer and winter and would often take someone with that may not have had the chance to go otherwise. Hank also enjoyed playing cards with friends, and he and his wife Lorna played Euchre weekly for quite some time. When he was in his 50’s he learned to golf, which became a new hobby that he enjoyed with Lorna, and they often invited others to join them.
Hank enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He always made sure they had fun, doing things like playing with minnows, learning to ride bikes, taking walks, having cookouts, and catching up on what they were doing in their lives.
He was an avid reader and spent a lot of time doing crossword puzzles and reading the newspaper. Hank cared deeply about others. He would help anyone, anyway he could, when he was able.
Survivors include; his wife Lorna Mae, children; Lynne Allen, Jeff (Lorraine) Mulder, Gina (Greg) Volkman, and Hank (Kelly) Mulder, grandchildren; Jessi (Lance) Coppadge, Josh (Lisa) Mulder, Jake Mulder, Bonnie (Mike) Voelker, Bob (Rachael) Allen, Brandon (Lindsay) Allen, Melissa (Mike) Wheaton, Matthew (Beth) Mulder, Sabrina Mulder (Cameron Eller), Lauren (Riggs) Repking, and Nick Mulder; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, sisters; Carol Dziak, Charlene (Thomas) Dulak, and Sharon Chapman.
Besides his parents, Henry is preceded in death by a son, Edward Mulder, two daughters, Loralee Mulder and Lydia Mulder, one brother, Richard Mulder Jr, and two sisters, Anna Haling and Mary Jane McClellan.
Henry’s family would like to thank the staff at Acorn Hill and Interim Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care.
