Albert “Al” William Nest (81), died peacefully on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Cedar Ridge Elder Services, Mosinee.
Al was born June 2nd, 1940, in Marshfield, son of the late Claude and Lula (Maguire) Nest.
Al graduated from Mosinee High School in 1958 and then served in the US Navy for four years. After the service he began working at the Mosinee Paper Mill until retiring in 2001. Al was a member of the Knights of Columbus along with being a volunteer paramedic and firefighter. He was an avid sports fan. He attended baseball games at every MLB stadium in the US but one and always rooted for the Chicago White Sox. Al had many hobbies that included bowling and playing softball, but most of all cherished watching his beloved granddaughters involved in sports and activities.
Survivors include Al’s former spouse, Mary (Knauf) Nest; daughters, Alissa Nest, Overland Park, KS, Nicole (Dennis) Pochron, Eyota, MN, and Trisha (Michael) Sirny, Mosinee, WI; granddaughters, Jillian, Ellison, and Charlotte Sirny; step granddaughters Brooke Sirny and Danae (Eric) Norton; step great grandsons, Tyse and Jase Norton; siblings, Lewelyn (Jean) Nest, Robert (Carol) Nest, and Jerry Nest; as well as many nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Nest; sister-in-law, Suzi Nest; and best friend, Steve Prewitt.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. and go until the time of the service at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6th, 2021 held at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. The Rev. Don Meuret will officiate. Burial will be in St Paul’s Cemetery, Mosinee on Wednesday, July 7th at 8:30 a.m. Online condolences may be made at www.bestefh.com.
