Leona P. Okrzesik-Pelot, 85, Mosinee, died peacefully Friday, Sept. 22, 2017.
She was born Feb. 17, 1932, the daughter of the late John and Pauline (Sharkey) Tomczek.
She married Joseph Okrzesik on Feb. 3, 1951. He preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 1988. Together they had nine children, Pamela (Daniel) Sitko, Mosinee, Jerry (Deb) Okrzesik, Wausau, Paulette (Ron) Ryczek, Mosinee, Patricia (Charlie) Duberstein, Mosinee, James (Sherry) Okrzesik, ,Schofield, Sandra (Chet) Fischer, Marathon, John (Louise) Okrzesik, Freedom, Shirley Gesick, Mosinee, and Joleen (Mark) Lerch, Mosinee; 17 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She later married LeRoy Pelot on Oct. 16, 1993. He survives.
Leona was a homemaker and an avid bingo and card player. She also cooked at various restaurants. She was a member and past president of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary Mosinee Post 8733.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate. Entombment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, where at 4:30 p.m. there will be a rosary followed by a VFW service.
