Marilyn “Judy” Onopa, 82, of Kronenwetter, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021, at Pride in Weston, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Pride TLC.
Judy was born April 12, 1939, the daughter of the late Carl Sanford and Iyla (Johnson) Stenson. She married Alexander Onopa on June 18, 1958, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Knowlton. He preceded her in death on Feb. 29, 2016.
Judy loved her Norwegian heritage, including making and eating lefse, tolerating lutefisk, and traveling to Norway in 2013. She enjoyed watching Wisconsin sports – getting “high 5’s” from her sons after a Packer or Brewer win. She loved keeping in touch with family and friends, baking, reading biographies, traveling, and camping.
Judy began her work career at Employers Insurance. She assisted her husband Alex on the dairy farm while raising her children. Later careers included a lab technician at Zimpro, and office worker for Township of Kronenwetter
Judy is survived by sons Richard (Mary Jo), Mark (Diane), David (Betty), and daughter Kristi (Mike) Mikalsen. 9 grandchildren, Alissa (Luke) Cahak, Nicholas (Carly) Onopa, Nathan Onopa, Brandon Onopa, Luke Onopa, Amanda (Alex) Pesch, Samantha (Travis) Rader, Natallie Mikalsen, Clayton Mikalsen. 3 great grandchildren – Keira, McKenzie, Grant Cahak.

Services will be at 3:00 pm, Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Meuret will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Visitation will be from 1:30 pm until time of services at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee is assisting the family with arrangements.
