Vacen Osowski, 96, Mosinee, died, Monday, March 12, 2018, at home.
He was born March 31, 1921, in Tyler, PA, the son of the late Carl and Anne (Sadowski) Osowski. He married Theresa Kasper on Oct. 11, 1941. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2014.
Vacen graduated from Wausau Tech in 1939 starting a long career as a machine shop employee. He worked many years at the Mosinee Paper Mill. Upon retiring after 39 years he was a maintenance supervisor.
Vacen proudly fought in WWII including The Battle of The Bulge. He earned a Purple Heart after being in a hospital in France and England for 8 months. He proudly did the Honor Flight in 2012. He was honored that Dr. Johnston accompanied him on that flight.
Vacen had a machine and carpenter shop at his home where he could make anything someone wanted. He found so much joy in doing projects for other people.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen (Dennis) Song, Flower Mound, TX; granddaughter, Dawn (Mike) Gonzalez, San Antonio, TX; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Preston Gonzalez; one brother, Casmir (Cheri) Osowski, Branson, MS; and many nieces and nephews, especially Peggy (Fred) Raymond and Ben Kasper Jr. Vacen was preceded in death by a son; Ronald Osowski, two brothers; Gene and Chester Osowski, and two sisters; Carole Shishkoss, and Jean Hackett.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Our Savior National Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Marion Talaga will officiate. Burial will be in Our Savior Cemetery, Town of Reid. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until time of services all at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, assisted the family with arrangements.
