Beverly Parkinson (Stensberg)

April 15, 1930 — July 19, 2019

Beverly Parkinson, 89, passed away peacefully, Friday, July 19, 2019, at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.
She was born April 15, 1930, in Wausau, the daughter of the late Peter and Bertha (Staven) Stensberg. She married the late Galen Parkinson on June 27, 1953, in Mosinee.
Beverly was a graduate of Mosinee High School. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in music from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. Bev taught Kindergarten in Marshfield, WI, and was later a reading aide at Mosinee Elementary School.
There are so many wonderful things for which we remember Bev. She was a loyal and loving friend and maintained lasting and close friendships with many people for over 80 years. She loved entertaining friends and family, and many will remember the get-togethers in their “Pavillion.” Her beautiful smile and laughter lit up the room. Most importantly, she treated her husband, children, grandchildren, and anyone in her life, with unconditional love and support. She was a strong and courageous person who met life’s worst challenges with grace and strength. Bev was a wise counsel and role model for her family, who taught us that it’s okay, and even healthy, to laugh at oneself.
Bev adored her grandchildren, Evan and Isaac. When they were little, Bev took care of them while their parents were at work. She loved playing with them, going for bike rides, playing the piano together, and knew the importance of reading with them at an early age.
Bev celebrated life everyday, with laughter, love, courage, and a remarkable energy and zest for life. Her memory and life lessons will live on in those of us who were fortunate enough to have her in our lives.
Survivors include a son, Jim Parkinson, Mosinee, a daughter, Gail (Chuck) Wirsbinski, Mosinee; and two grandchildren, Evan (Phil) Sorenson and Isaac Wirsbinski, both of Madison. Other survivors include loving relatives Tom Mitchell, and Kathy (Dick) Runte, all of the southern WI area. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Parkinson, husband Galen Parkinson, and cousin Donna Mitchell of Sussex, WI.
Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Mosinee United Methodist Church, followed by lunch at Pinewood Supper Club. The Rev. Gail Ray will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at the church.
Donations will be shared with the Aspirus Hospice House, and Mosinee United Methodist Church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, assisted family with arrangements. Online condolences can be made at www.bestefh.com.
