Richard P. Ganser, 78, formally Campbellsport and Pelican Lake, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Story Point Memory Care, Mequon.
Richard was born on August 30, 1945, in Wausau, WI, son of the late Phillip and Hyacinth (Schreiber) Ganser. He married Jean Potts on Nov. 2, 1968, and she preceded him in death on May 9, 2012, he then met and married Nancy Augustiniak on June 30, 2018, she preceded him in death on July 9, 2020.
Richard graduated from Mosinee High School in 1963. He served the US Army in Germany from 1963-1966. He attended Blackhawk Technical College in Rock County WI. He and Jean then moved to Campbellsport where they raised their family.
Richard served the Federal Government Support Facility as a helicopter/aircraft mechanic in West Bend WI, and also served in the Army National Guard and retired as 1ST Sergeant of the 832d Air Ambulance company after 33 years of service.
In 2001, Richard and Jean moved to Pelican Lake, WI where they fulfilled their dream of building a log home. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, trapping, and especially chasing bear. He was a member of the WI Bear Hunters Association. Richard traveled much of the upper US and Canada pursuing his outdoor passions. He also enjoyed spending time at his winter home in Florida. Above all, Richard enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include son Phillip (Jennifer) Ganser, daughter Jennifer (Sean)Durand, Grandson Logan Rauch, Granddaughters Olivia Rauch, Hailey and Hannah Ganser, he is further survived by his sisters Cheryl (Peter), Kachel, Cathy (John)Miley, and Julie (Robert) Zalewski.
Besides his parents, and both of his wives, Richard was preceded in death by his brother John Ganser.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at St Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee, at 11:00 am. The Rev. Derek Sekowski will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9:00 am until the time of service all at the church. Beste Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
