Vernon W. Roddy, age 91, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Marshfield Medical Center, Neillsville.
Vernon was born on May 18, 1930, in Redfield SD. He grew up in Upper Peninsula Mi. Vernon enjoyed High School basketball in his youth. After serving on ships in the US Navy, he worked as a Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes. He began a career in Law Enforcement in Kenilworth Il. Served as Patrolman, Sergeant and Chief. He retired as Chief of Police after 27 years. Vernon married Lois Johnson in 1957 and raised four children. Upon retiring to Wisconsin, Vernon faithfully attended Good News Church in Mosinee. He loved working in the woods and carpentry. Vernon enjoyed the sport of golf and especially loved spending time at their home and property on the lake with his wife of 64 years and his children and grandchildren.
Besides his wife Lois (Johnson) Roddy, Vern is survived by his son Michael (Gaye) Roddy, Mosinee, Daughter Brenda (Curt) Bresette, Rib Mountain. Grandchildren; Joshua (Juliya) Roddy, Taylor Roddy, Zackary Roddy, Joey Fritzel, Joseph Bresette, Jacob Bresette. Along with six great grandchildren, Vern is also survived by his brother Wendell (Arlene) Sister Mary Lyn Michiles and Sister Joy Ann Downs. Sister-in-law Pat Roddy and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by his daughter, Betsy (Fritzel) Daughter Patty Roddy. Brother Russel Smith. Brother Dean Roddy.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. Pastor Jay O’Connor will officiate. Burial will follow at Mosinee Cemetery.
