Roger A. Dean

Roger A. Dean, 91, Mosinee, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 15, 2025, at his home.

Roger was born on June 17, 1933, in Buena Vista in Portage County, son of the late Arthur and Marie (Melgreen) Dean. He married Rachel Bukovic on Nov. 15, 1958, in Wausau, she survives.

Roger enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1955 and served in the chemical weapons battalion. When he was released from active duty he transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve of Wisconsin Military District, for a total of eight years in the service.

Roger was employed at Murray’s and later at Sunrise Company, where he was a maintenance man for many years. After he retired, he worked at Walmart. Roger was an avid fisher and loved hunting and being outdoors. He enjoyed gardening and giving fruits and vegetables to friends and to the food pantry. He coached soccer and was also involved with the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed making maple syrup and wood-working. Roger was also a dedicated fan of Wisconsin sports teams, especially the Packers and Brewers.

Roger will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rachel, son Jason Dean and Jason’s wife Sandy Peterson, two sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Linda and his son Scott, three sisters, and five brothers. 

A Funeral Service will be held on January 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Wausau Bible Church, Wausau. Pastor Chris Juvinall will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service all at the church. Burial will take place in Mosinee Cemetery. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is assisting the family with arrangements.
