Roman “Romie” Leo Marek, 85, Mosinee, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Tomahawk Health Services, under the care of St. Croix Hospice.
He was born April 17th, 1939, in Withee, WI, son of Leon and Frances (Pabich) Marek. He graduated from Thorp High School and went on to attend Wausau Technical College for plumbing. On October 17th, 1964, he married Carol Anderson in Thorp, WI. They had three children and were married for 60 years. She preceded him in death on Sept. 16, 1996.
Roman worked as a journeyman plumber and then as owner/operator of his own plumbing business for a total of 60 years. He also served in the United States Army from 1964-1968. He loved spending time with family and friends, grilling, gardening, and hunting. In later years, he could be found meeting his friends for coffee clutch and enjoying time with the family dogs. Roman was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Mosinee VFW Post 8733, and St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Mosinee.
Survivors include his 3 children, Rebecca “Becca” Marek, Brian (Becky) Marek, and Brad (Teresa) Marek; grandchildren Samantha (Jacob) Meurett, Stephanie Marek, Sara Marek, and Adam Marek; siblings, Valencia (Ed) Kolo, Ronald “Ronnie” (Laura) Marek, Sylvester “Silver” (Peter) Marek-Shick, and Allen (Renee) Marek. Additionally, he leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well as many friends.
Roman is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol; parents, Frances and Leon Marek; and nephew Paul and nieces Linda and Theresa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, November 8, 2024, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Mosinee. Father Aaron Becker and Monsignor Joseph Diermeier will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Family and friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service, all at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be made at www.bestefh.com.
