James S. Schlatterer, 93, Mosinee, died Monday, Jan. 4th, 2021, at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.
He was born April 24, 1927, in Wausau, the son of the late Fred and Stella (Zdrojowy) Schlatterer. He married Betty Dalton in 1949, she preceded him in death on June 27, 2014.
Jim proudly served his country during WWII in the Pacific on LCI 4G surviving a typhoon off Okinawa. He was a member of VFW Post 4873.
Many know him from his days with E.A. Smith Hardware and Implement and later as the friendly Standard Oil man. In 1981 he and Betty (the love of his life) moved to Colorado. From ther they took off on many excursions to California, Arizona, Wyoming and New Mexico. They loved to travel almost as much as they loved their family. In 2001 they returned to Mosinee where they lived happily ever after.
James is survived by; his children, Katherine (Dennis) Boettcher, Mosinee, John (Kathy) Schlatterer, Mosinee, and Jamie (Mark) Simonis, Mosinee; two grandchildren, Sean (Stephanie) Witz, Merrill, and Andrea (Matt) Biersack, Stevens Point, one great grandchild, Tobias Witz; and one brother, William Schlatterer, Old Orchard, ME. Besides his wife Betty, James was preceded in death by; one sister, Virginia Kohl; one granddaughter, Alexis Witz-Fuss, and son-in-law, Darwin Witz.
A memorial service will be held on Wed. Jan. 13, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 A.M. all at the church. The Rev.
