Stella Hedwig Swatloski

Stella H. Swatloski, 96, Mosinee, passed away peacefully, on Monday, March 10, 2025, with her family by her side.

She was born on Sept. 14, 1928, in Wausau, WI, daughter of the late John and Mary (Leja) Ligas. She married the love of her life, Arnold Swatloski at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Knowlton, on June 14, 1952. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2018.

Stella loved having her children and grandchildren around, cooking for them, baking cookies, pies and pumpkin bars. You could always stop in for a visit and expect homemade treats. She loved to garden, starting seedlings indoors, canning and freezing her home-grown fruits and vegetables as well as growing her marigolds, peonies and tulips. She enjoyed her apple orchard and peeling the apples with her sister Rose. Stella was not afraid of hard work, owning and operating their farm with Arnold. Some of her favorite activities were traveling and going places with Arnold.

Stella is survived by her children; Roger (Pam) Swatloski, Joan (Jeff) Cherek, Alan (Drae) Swatloski, Lori (Jerry) Ciula, and son-in-law, Tom Stankowski; grandchildren, Jackie, Jamie (Brian), Ryan (Rachel), Gary (Holly), Teresa (Quinn), Dan, Steve (Amber), Stefanie (JaMont), Stacy (Chad), Alexandra (Blake), Sydney, Natalia, and Easton; great-grandchildren, Brodie, Cole, Payton, Lucy, Carly, Jada, Abigale, Ellery, Ella, Cora, Gracie, Alden, August, Helen, Jack, Jerry, Eddy, Brayden, Brenden, Miranda, Zachary, Otto, Saveya, Zamara, and Elliana; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Arnold, she was preceded in death by children, Karen Stankowski and Gregory; siblings, Rose (Paul) Mizgalski; and her in-laws, Viginia (John) Fochs, Floyd (Irene) Swatloski, and Irene (Willard) Cater.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, March 17, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Aaron Becker will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m., until the time of service, all at the church.
